Fall Retreat is Real Life’s main event of the semester! It’s a chance to get away from campus for part of the weekend at a beautiful camp where you can really experience the beauty of fall in Ohio (and who doesn’t love fall in Ohio?!). We’ll hear from the wise and engaging speaker and author, Terry Wardle, who will invite us to know God and walk with Him in a deeper way. We’ll have fun, make friends, and make memories together!
Intrigued? Let’s talk about your questions:
You’ll carpool with friends to Lakeville, Ohio on Friday afternoon, grabbing dinner on the way. After arriving and signing in, we’ll have our first meeting together on Friday night packed full of solid teaching from Terry Wardle, worship, and fun! Then, after bonfires and fun times, you’ll have a sleepover with your pals in very comfortable rooms (this not some drafty old cabin, people)! After breakfast and coffee (a necessity, let’s be honest), we’ll gather together for another meeting followed by some fun, fall-related small group competitions, and then we’ll have the whole afternoon to hang out. You have all sorts of activities available to you: watching or taking part in the annual flag football tournament, fun fall crafts (Pinterest, anyone?!), volleyball/basketball/rock climbing, relaxing and talking with friends by the lake or in the coffee house, catching up on some studying...whatever you’d like! After dinner we’ll gather together for our final meeting and cap the weekend off with extended worship before heading back to Ohio State! Check out our Fall Retreat page for more info.
All afternoon on Saturday is free until dinner, so you’ll have plenty of time to work on homework if necessary. Plus, you’ll be home Saturday night, leaving Sunday available to do homework as well! This weekend is well worth the investment, and not something that you’ll want to miss.
You are not alone! Plenty of people will be coming who don’t know many people or are afraid to go on retreat with so many new people. There will be A LOT of opportunities to connect with and meet other people throughout the weekend. Plus, you’ll be placed in a small group with other people from your part of campus, so you’ll have time to get to know them and have fun together! People always leave with new and lasting friendships--who knows, maybe you’ll meet your best friend this weekend.
We definitely do not want money to be the obstacle that keeps people from going to retreat. We’d love to talk to you about options to help you out. Talk to your small group leader or, if you’re not connected to a small group, email Ben Aikens at ben.aikens@cru.org.
So, now that all your concerns have been addressed...why don’t you go ahead and register now?! See you October 11th!
